We are six months in to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Kettering Fire Department. This month, let’s look back on the fire engines. Did you know the very first REO Speedwagon fire truck was selected because its engine was strong enough to climb the many hills in Van Buren Township while going forward? Other trucks at the time had to climb hills in reverse slowing down response time in emergencies.
