City of West Carrollton issued the following announcement on February 1.
Snow Removal Crews Ask for Residents’ Help
Due to the Winter Storm Watch that has been issued for Wednesday, Feb. 2, through Friday, Feb. 4, the City is providing information about the road clearing process.
City of West Carrollton crews will begin mobilizing as soon as the rain turns to a wintry mix. The city’s main priority will be to focus on keeping major roads clear and ensuring access to public safety and emergency vehicles. Main roads will be plowed first while residential roads are plowed as quickly and safely as crews are able once the major roads are sufficiently clear. The City is requesting that residents help crews by parking vehicles off the streets when possible.
“We are asking our community to avoid parking vehicles on the street during the storm, if possible,” said Service Director Rich Norton, “Also, as our crews are out, we encourage all travelers to give them plenty of room to operate and to be patient with snow- and ice-clearing activities.”
Todd Pemberton, street division supervisor, urges that “residents keep in mind that crews will be making continuous loops throughout the city to keep our roadways open for our police and fire personnel and residents.”
Trash collection will occur as normal both Thursday and Friday, February 3-4.
“We are prepared,” said City Manager Brad Townsend, “Our crews are on standby and will begin salting and clearing as early and as often as possible but, we also want to remind our residents that it will take time to safely reach all roadways if we do experience significant snow and ice accumulation.”
