State Representatives Cindy Abrams and Phil Plummer have announced the endorsement of House Bill 372, known as The Larry Henderson Act, by the National Police Association. The proposed legislation seeks to increase penalties for the aggravated murder of peace officers, prosecutors, first responders, or military members. Under this bill, offenders could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.

Cindy Abrams stated, "Our first responders should be able to do their jobs without fear of violent retaliation." She emphasized that families should not endure additional stress over parole decisions concerning their loved ones' killers.

Phil Plummer added, "Both first responders and military personnel are essential components of safe communities." He assured that Ohio would protect these individuals and impose severe consequences on those who harm them.

The bill is currently awaiting assignment to a House Committee for further consideration.
