CITY OF SPRINGBORO: City offers Business Grant program

Startup business and marketing tips

City of Springboro issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.

COVID-19 and restrictions related to this pandemic have made an unprecedented impact on our business community. The City of Springboro wants to help provide economic support by sharing funds from our CARES Act grant to our businesses in an effort to help create jobs and expand businesses affected by the coronavirus.

The City has created an Employer Grant Program to help absorb costs associated with the hiring of new employees—for the expansion of business needs due to new COVID demands—and/or the rehiring of former employees whose jobs were cut because of the pandemic. The maximum amount to request is $20,000.

The monies can be used to assist with on-boarding, training and/or soft costs associated with recruitment of new staff members. Please note that we will be reviewing applications as they are submitted, first come, first served, until all funds are distributed. This program is for businesses within the City of Springboro ONLY.

Applicants: Please note that grant funds are potentially taxable, per the IRS. Grant recipients should talk with their tax professionals.

Complete the application and return it to Greg Shackelford, no later than October 31, 2020. A committee of City staff will review applications as they are submitted. So, the sooner you apply, the quicker your application will be reviewed and a decision made.
