City of Kettering, Ohio - Government issued the following announcement on January 27.
Prepared for the USA Bicentennial in 1976, "The Legend of the City of Kettering" was a list of historical highlights illustrated with watercolor depictions of the events. The creators got a few details wrong, however. The earliest settlers arrived by barges on the Great Miami River, not by Conestoga Wagons as no roads had been cleared yet. Some of those settlers who arrived in 1796 only stayed long enough to clear enough land to stake their claims then left for the winter and returned in 1797 with their families.
